We engage children’s bodies and minds through fun and educational activities, fostering their holistic development.

About Dr Maria Montessori

Dr. Maria Montessori, the founder of the Montessori approach, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Rome in 1896 and was the first woman to practice medicine in Italy. As a physician, anthropologist, and scientist, she brought a new perspective to the observation and study of human development.

The Montessori Approach

The Montessori approach to education inspires children toward a lifelong love of learning by following their natural developmental stages and tendencies. This method helps children become confident, responsible, and independent learners who trust their abilities.

At Children’s Discovery House, our highly recognized Montessori program is designed to provide a dynamic and stimulating learning environment that nurtures each child’s unique developmental needs. Our classrooms promote intellectual, physical, and social growth in an orderly setting that encourages self-discipline. The positive learning experiences gained during these formative years serve as a foundation for lifelong success.

Key Principles of Our Educational Philosophy

  • Critical Early Years: The early childhood years are crucial for character building and development.
  • Sensitive Periods: Children go through phases where they are especially receptive to learning specific skills.
  • Prepared Environment: Children thrive in an environment that is carefully prepared to encourage exploration and learning.

Our classrooms are equipped with hands-on materials that promote independent learning. Montessori teachers are trained to recognize and support each child as an individual learner. At Children’s Discovery House, we provide a stimulating, nurturing environment where your child can grow.

The Montessori Program at
Children’s Discovery House

Our program caters to children aged 1.5 to 6+ years, encouraging them to explore their world, overcome challenges, and develop independence. We emphasize practical life skills and sensorial activities that are more than just “play”; they are fundamental to a child’s development. Through these activities, children learn to concentrate, coordinate, and maintain order, all within a structured yet encouraging environment.

The philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, which centers on observing the child to understand their needs, is integral to our approach. Our teachers tailor their methods to each child’s developmental stage, encouraging experimentation, discovery, and the application of newly gained knowledge.

At Children’s Discovery House, we believe in nurturing creativity and imagination. We provide opportunities for children to engage in creative role-play, real-life experiences, and imaginative exploration. Our prepared environment includes trained teachers, appropriate interior spaces, and developmentally appropriate learning materials.

Our Vision

Children’s Discovery House aims to instill a love of learning through self-discovery in a nurturing and orderly environment. We offer a range of activities designed to support healthy emotional growth, physical coordination, and intellectual excellence.

Our curriculum includes core Montessori subjects such as practical life, sensorial development, language, mathematics, cultural studies in geography, history, botany and zoology, and creative arts in music and art and craft. We also offer Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, music, gymnastics, and speech and drama to enrich the learning experience.

Our facilities include Montessori teaching materials, art and craft areas, a music room, a gym and dance studio, a child-friendly snack and lunch area, a sandpit, a water play area, personal cubby cabinets, a reading corner, and a playground.

We aim to develop confident, adaptable, independent, and well-organized children who are good decision-makers and problem-solvers. Our goal is to instill a strong sense of self-esteem and optimism, setting children on a path to success.

Our People

In our school, your child will interact with a team of dedicated Montessori-trained teachers who:

  • Prepare an appropriate environment.
  • Guide self-help skills.
  • Serve as role models.
  • Observe and respond to each child’s emotional, social, physical, and intellectual needs.
  • Arrange Montessori materials in a systematic order.

We maintain a low adult-child ratio to ensure personalized attention and quality guidance.

Experiences and the Prepared Environment

Children at Children’s Discovery House gain experiential learning through a wide range of sensorial activities. Our carefully prepared materials allow children to explore and classify sensory impressions.

We create a child-friendly environment where children can freely choose activities, engage in problem-solving, and develop social and communication skills. Our facilities include child-sized sinks and toilets to encourage independence.

Progress Reports

Your child’s progress is monitored regularly. We provide a “Progress Report” two months after your child joins the program and periodically thereafter. This report includes feedback on your child’s development and progress at school.

Montessori at Home

We encourage parents to support Montessori concepts at home by allowing children the freedom to make choices and carry out self-help skills, along with providing positive feedback. For more information, parents can consult our teachers or read books on Montessori education, such as “Montessori Play and Learn” by Lesley Britton and “Montessori Read and Write” by Lynn Lawrence.
